I’m Ruth and I’m an independent funeral celebrant certified by the Academy of Professional Celebrants.

I love being a celebrant and am privileged to walk beside those who are bereaved, guiding them through the process of planning and carrying out a celebration of life.

I’ve been a university lecturer and college teacher for many years and bring this experience to my role as a celebrant. You can depend on my abilities as a public speaker and writer as I craft the ceremony and share the story of a life well lived.

I love to hear the stories that people tell about their lives and their loved ones. These stories are at the heart of a good funeral service and are what make it unique and personal.
You can be confident in my professionalism, depth of listening and the care and respect that I bring to creating a meaningful service. I’ll meet you with compassion and warmth as well as humour.

I live in Much Wenlock in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire countryside. I love to get out into nature to walk, reading a good book and time with friends and family.
Why choose me?

I'm passionate about family history and sharing family stories.

I love hearing about all the ways we can be reminded of special people in our lives and the special moments that we've had with them.

Keepsakes, photographs, a piece of music, or a special date can all be extremely evocative. When people share memories triggered by these things they’re so vivid, it’s almost like being there.

As a funeral celebrant my role is to create a unique and personally meaningful funeral ceremony for a loved one.
It’s a big responsibility, and I know how important it is to get it right. It’s the stories you share with me, and the readings and special pieces of music that remind you of your loved one that come together to make the ceremony special.

I’ll support you by:
-
Listening as you share memories with me of your loved one. This helps me to understand what they were like, things they did and said and what they’ll be remembered for, as well as what's important to you and how you want the ceremony to go
-
Guiding you as we choose readings, poems and music
-
Supporting you as we plan and prepare for the service to make sure it’ll be meaningful for you and your family and friends.
-
Facilitating the involvement of family and friends in the funeral ceremony as we come together to celebrate a unique and well lived life.
