Hi I’m Ruth Cameron and I’m a funeral celebrant accredited by the Academy of Professional Celebrants.

I live in Much Wenlock in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire countryside and I partner with funeral directors in Telford, Shrewsbury and South Shropshire leading funerals for families all over central and south Shropshire.

It’s such a beautiful area and I feel blessed to live here.

What has brought you here?

If you’re here looking at my website then it’s likely that you have experienced a life changing event and the loss of someone dear.

Or it may be that you are preparing for end of life and planning ahead, either for yourself or for someone close to you.

My role is to help you plan a celebration of life, to honour the person who has died, to say goodbye to their physical presence and to gain a sense of closure for this early stage of the grieving process.

Bringing family and friends together in shared love and grief provides so much warmth and support and is incredibly important in helping people in the immediate aftermath of a death.

A good funeral service or memorial service can really help with saying goodbye and bringing some sense of peace as you begin to come to terms with this tremendous loss.

What is a funeral celebrant?

A funeral celebrant meets with the family and helps them decide how they want to remember and pay tribute to someone dear.

The celebrant helps you choose readings, poems and music to create a meaningful service. Some families will choose religious elements such as prayers, hymns, bible or other religious readings. This is something I can help you with.

As a funeral celebrant I am there to support you through a difficult time. I work with you to create a bespoke ceremony that reflects the individual needs of the family and their loved one.

A growing number of people want a ‘nonreligious’ funeral service led by an independent funeral celebrant. This means that the service won’t take place in a church or other place of worship. However, you can still have religious elements in the ceremony if that is meaningful for you.

Families are looking for a bespoke ceremony that meets the needs of family, friends and community and that reflects the individuality of the person whose life we are remembering and celebrating.

The funeral can take place in a crematorium chapel, a burial ground or another venue that you might choose. There are no legal restrictions on where a funeral can be held.
